As Hurricane Sandy began to threaten the East Coast, the Officers and Members of First West Chester began preparations to cope with the massive Storm. The station was staff with volunteers from Sunday evening, October 28, until Wednesday morning, October 31. At the height of the storm, Station 51 had 20 volunteers staffing all of the apparatus. This dedication by the active crew is what First West Chester prides itself on.
During the storm, members prepped and maintained the apparatus, while responding to 22 calls for services including 3 reported house fires.
The Officers and Members of the First West Chester Fire Company would like to extend a special thank you to the West Chester Volunteer Fireman's Relief Association for their financial support during the incident.
