**Incident summary from Alert Fire Co. No1 (Downingtown) Facebook page**

At 2:10 AM, this morning, the Downingtown Fire Dept. along with our mutual aid partners, West Bradford Fire Co., Thorndale Fire Company and Clubroom, East Brandywine Fire Company and the First West Chester Fire Co., Engine Co. 51 were dispatched to smoke in the building, at the Gabel Courtyard Apartments on Gabel Ave., in the Borough of Downingtown.

The Downingtown Police Department and Assistant 45, arrived on scene to confirm smoke showing from the balcony of a second floor apartment.

The crew from Tower 45 split into two teams, with the first team conducting forcible entry and search and rescue. The second team placed ground ladders around the the building. The crew from Engine 39-1 advanced an 1.75” hand line for fire attack. Engine 46-1 laid a 5” supply line from W. Pennsylvania and Gabel Avenues, then deployed a backup attack line.

The interior crew from Tower 45 found one unconscious person and removed the victim to the Minquas Fire Company No. 2 EMS who transported the victim to the hospital.

All of the crews at the scene assisted with ventilation and overhaul. The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Chester County Department of Emergency Services Fire Marshals Office.
