Open Burn Polices
The Borough of West Chester and five surrounding muncipalities which the West Chester Fire Department serve all have different polices with regards to open burning. Before burning be sure to review and follow the specific ordinance for where you live. If you have any questions please call your local municipality, not the fire station.
The First West Chester Fire Company and West Chester Fire Department strongly urge that no burning be conducted on high fire danger or "Red Flag" days, which are issued when weather conditions promote rapid fire growth and spread. You can check these conditions on any weather site such as weather.com.
As always if you decide to burn, please be sure to have a sustainable water source and contact the Chester County Fire Radio at 610-436-4700 to have your residence added to the burn file. If a controlled burn becomes out of control do not hesitate and call 911 immediatly.
