| Saturday, September 29 was another proud day for the entire West Chester Fire Department. For the past two weeks, members of the WCFD have spent countless hours cleaning apparatus and equipment for the annual Pennsylvania State Firemen's Parade in Norristown, Pa. At 9am 16 pieces of apparatus and the 45 marchers departed from West Chester headed for Norristown. The West Chester Fire Department, in conjunction with the Chester County Emerald Society, marched in the parade, consisting of over 300 pieces of emergency services apparatus, directly behind the Norristown Fire Department. West Chester was able to bring home a trophy for Engine 52-2 and second place for Best Appearing Department 35 or more marching with music. Video of the Department marching can be found in the video section of the web site; http://www.firstwestchester.org/content/videos/. Next year the annual State Firemen's Convention and Parade will be held in West Chester, in conjunction with the Fame Fire Company's 175th Anniversary on September 28th, 2013. More information can be found at http://www.famefireco.org/famefireco/fame175th/. The Officers and Members of the First West Chester Fire Company would like to extend a special thank you to the Chester County Emerald Society for marching with the Department, Mike McCarthy from Station 53 for his tireless efforts in organizing the trip this year and next year's convention, and our families for their undying support. |
