| On Wednesday, June 6, Engine 51-2 was dispatched to relocate to Coatesville Fire Department Station 41 while their units operated at a 2 alarm structure fire in the 600 block of Coates Street in the City. As Engine 51-2 went responding, command requested a third alarm, bringing Engine 51-2 to the fire scene. Engine 51-2 arrived in the fire block and was instructed to send its crew to the manpower officer. The crew was immediately put to work, aiding in interior fire suppression operations. Command then requested the fourth alarm, requiring additional units as the fire continued to rapidly spread to adjoining homes. The fire involved a total of nine separate units before it could be contained. The incident was finally placed under control at 1800 hours with all units working. The crew from Engine 51-2 continued to work on overhaul efforts from building to building, clearing the scene at approximately 1930 hours. The incident brought multiple pieces of fire apparatus from across Chester and Lancaster Counties. |
