"Around 1PM on Saturday, May 12, our New Air 52 was chauffeured to Station 52 by Captain Good, escorted by the current Air 52. The new Air Truck is a 2012 Spartan MetroStar/CustomFire, it has a Cummins ISL 9 450hp Engine, Allison 3000 EVS Transmission, a stainless steel body, painted roll up doors, a 6000psi Cascade System, Marathon 40kW mechanical generator, Will-Burt Telescoping light tower, high and low pressure air lines, LED scene and emergency lighting, a manual and electronic siren, and seating for 6 firefighters.
The Air Truck will not only serve to supplement firefighters on scene with filling air cylinders but it will also have tools for RIT (Rapid Intervention Team), in which Good Will firefighters have been trained to be prepared to rescue downed firemen at a scene. The new Air 52 will be attending the Harrisburg Fire Expo this week and will be in service after all equipment and radios are mounted and all members are done training on it. Special thanks to CustomFire, Mark McCarthy, Tim Allaband, and the apparatus committee of the Good Will."
The Officers and Members of the First West Chester Fire Company extend congratulations to the Good Will and well wishes with their new piece of apparatus. The new Air/Light 52 is a fine addition to the West Chester Fire Department's fleet of equipment and is well suited to serve the citizens of the greater West Chester Area.
