Just before 11am, WCFD crews were dispatched to assist PECO in the 200 block of West Miner Street for a gas leak. PECO crews had an odor of natural gas in the area with high levels of natural gas inside multiple homes in the block. WCFD crews arrived, secured a water supply, and assisted with air monitoring as well as evacuations. Fire police from West Chester and Goshen Fire Company helped secure a 1/2 block perimeter around the incident. PECO crews located multiple leaks along a buried gas line running down the street. WCFD crews stood by with a hand-line as PECO dug up the road and completed emergency repairs on the pipeline. Due to the extended duration of the incident crews were rotated out between the 3 WCFD companies. Just after 5pm the scene was stable enough to turn over to PECO for completion.
