On Friday, June 23, just after 1830 hours, Station 51 was dispatched for a reported vehicle fire on the 5th floor of Chester County Justice Center Parking garage in the 200 block of W Market Street, West Chester Borough. Calls to Chester County 911 reported a fire in the engine compartment of a pickup truck. Assistant 51 and Engine 51-2 arrived shortly after dispatch confirming the report.
Engine 51-2 secured a water supply and set up for a standpipe operation on the floor below. Assistant 51 upgraded the assignment to a building response bringing units from Stations 52 and 53. Crews quickly extinguished the fire, preventing any major damage to the parking structure. The incident was placed under control at 1854 and units cleared the just under an hour later.
