Shortly before noon Station 52 (Goodwill Fire Company) was alerted to the YMCA at 1 East Chestnut Street for a fire alarm. Imeditally after the fire alarm dispatch, calls to Chester County 911 were reporting a dryer on fire in the basement. With that information Chester County dispatch upgraded the assignment to an appliance fire adding Stations 51,53 and 55 ambulance. Engine 51-1 arrived on location first with police reporting best access being from the rear of the structure. Crews discovered a fire out in the dryer with no extension and held the assignment to "1 and 1". Smoldering materials were removed from the dryer and the structure was ventilated before the fire alarm was restored. Once crews picked up equipment they returned available.

51 crews also handled two additional fire alarms and a wires call for the day.
