Just before 9:30pm on Christmas Day, the West Chester Fire Department was alerted for a building fire at the Penn Oaks Country Club in Thornbury Township. The 911 caller reported smoke in the building. Assistant 53 arrived, and upon investigating, found smoke inside the kitchen area and showing from the rear exterior eaves. Engine 51-2 arrived as the first due engine, made entry from the rear of the building, and located a fire in the ceiling space.

Assistant 52 arrived and established command, transmitting the working fire dispatch. The fire was quickly brought under control and additional arriving WCFD crews assisted with checking for extension and overhaul. The Chester County Fire Marshals Office responded for the investigation.
