On Friday, April 13, the First West Chester Volunteers kept busy throughout the day answering multiple calls for service. At 1102, Station 51 was dispatched for a brush fire in the area of Ridge Crest Drive and Hillsadale Road in East Bradford Township. Brush 51 responded and located a controlled burn in the 800 block of Peter Christopher Drive which had spread to nearby brush. The fire was quickly contained and all units returned to station a short time later.

At 1437, Station 51 was dispatched for an auto fire in the parking lot of the Bradford Plaza in East Bradford Township. Engine 51-2 arrived to find a vehicle fully engulfed in flames. Crews from Engine 51-2 and 51-1 extinguished the fire before returning to service just at 1500 hours.

Station 51 units were alerted for a house fire on Fielding Drive in Westtown Township at 1557. Calls to Chester County 911 reported the side of a house on fire. Ladder 53 and Engine 51-2 arrived to find a fire had occurred on the outside of the house by the electrical service meter. An alert neighbor saw the fire and was able to extinguish most of it while the homeowner called 911. Crews checked for extension and wet down the affected area.

Station 51 also answered two additional calls for service reported as automatic fire alarms this day which were found to be false or accidental in nature.
