First West Chester Fire Company
The First West Chester Fire Company is one of three 100% volunteer fire companies that make the West Chester Fire Department. First West Chester Fire Company provides fire coverage to the West Chester Borough, West Goshen, East Bradford, Westtown, and Birmingham Townships. As the oldest company in the WCFD, our volunteer organization has been proudly serving our communities since 1799.

At 20:04 hours the WCFD was dispatched to a house fire on Taylors Mill Road. The first unit on scene reported smoke from the roof and entered the structure immediately. At 00:45 hours Station 51 and 53 were dispatched to a reported house fire on Allegiance Drive. Arriving police unites reported fire through the roof. The entire WCFD, as well as unites from the West Bradford and Longwood Fire Company were activated immediately. The homeowners were able to evacuate before the fire department arrived on the scene. Car Fire

At 1230 hours, Sunday, March 6, Station 51 was dispatched to an automobile fire in the 400 block of West Rosedale Avenue in West Goshen Township. Asst 51 (McClure) arrived at 1234 and reported a vehicle fully involved. Engine 51-2 (Lt Green) arrived moments later and extinguished the same. Engine 51-1 arrived and provided additional manpower. Prescribed Burn

On Saturday, March 5, members of Station 51 updated their wild land firefighting skills while performing a prescribed burn in East Bradford Township. Members had an opportunity to practice the many skills that need to be put to use during large brush fires. Station 51 is part of the DCNR District 17 forestry crew and responds several times a year to wild land fires throughout the state of Pennsylvania. A special thank you goes out to the private property owners who allowed us to train on their property.

Chimney Fire

The WCFD was dispatched to the 200 block of Wencin Way for a chimney fire. Crews arrived to find an active chimney fire. The fresh snowfall added an extra element to the repsonse. Crews were able to quickly mitigate the situation by removing the burning material. The department operated for approximately 38 minutes. See more Pictures
